Walking in Provence is becoming more and more popular due to the great number and variety of hiking trails or GR (Grande Randonnée). Trails are numbered and easy to follow, particularly the Balcony of the Côte d'Azur which winds its way from Cannes along the southern slopes of the Alpes Maritimes parallel to the French Riviera coastline.
There are also plenty of local trails that can be found in most of the towns, villages, hamlets and even completely unpopulated sites in the Provence region.
