The Côtes de Provence wine region currently produces approximately 80% of France's rosé wine from established appellations - Bandol; Bellet; Pallette and Cassis vineyards. Red wines include Côtes du Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigonoles.
It is said that Provence was the location of the very first French vineyard over 2,600 years ago. Nowadays, Côtes de Provence wine quality is renowned and many of the dry, fruity rosé wines and table wines are becoming sought after.
Most of the wineries have free tasting (dégustation) and sell wine by the bottle. Two of the closest wineries to Château de Camiole are Domaine De Meaulx in Claviers near Seillans, and Paquette Jean in Fréjus.
